Manufacturing
The manufacturing process for polyester has a huge negative impact on the environment. It wastes massive amounts of energy and is responsible for polluting wastewater with microplastics, chemicals, and other toxic materials.
Despite this, it can’t be denied that polyester makes a great fabric. It is durable, washable, and easy to print or dye a wide range of colors. For companies like Pure Sage that are environmentally conscious, there’s an eco-friendly alternative that comes with all the same advantages of virgin polyester. It’s called rPET, or recycled polyester.
Recycling plastic bottles into polyester consumes 33% to 53% less than manufacturing virgin polyester, while having the additional environmental impact of removing waste from our oceans and landfills.
Pure Sage's Commitment
Pure Sage is committed to using only 100% post-consumer recycled polyester (rPET) to manufacture all of our reusable bags and accessories. Our products are machine washable and built to last. And, when you consider that just one bag can replace up to 500 single-use plastic bags every single year, you can appreciate the significant impact your purchase will have on our planet.
